Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and community service. The first time Selmon was brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on a farm near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the eldest of their nine children. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the United States. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon obtained a degree in education. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. He also began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team for the year 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
